He was born in Jos, plateau state, and moved to Lagos with his two brothers when he was 15 years.
El-Flash was a good poet, and he started recording music when he was 17. Together with a friend, El-Wiz, he won the plateau Talent Show and they formed a rap group, sidekicks.
